INTRODUCTION
This project titled “Ethically Rating Retail Petrol Outlets of Calicut city” was carried out at four outlets namely,
Ø
Bharat
Petroleum
Ø
Reliance
Ø
Indian
Oil and
Ø
This project report is an analysis of the various factors that the above
said organization does for the welfare of their lower level employees (Petrol
boys).
ANALYSIS
This analysis is done by considering the following factors:
· Health
· Respect human rights
· Secure job
· Environment protection
· Fair treatment of employees
· Education support
· Solve work related problems
· Solve personal problems
· Provide uniform
· Compensation package
· Satisfactory level
Ø HEALTH - Reliance is considering the health of their employees when compared the other outlets.
Ø RESPECT HUMAN RIGHTS – Except HP all firms provide little consideration but Hindustan Petroleum considers little more when compared to the other three.
Ø JOB SECURITY – No job security is provided by any of the organization. In case of any fault done by the employee he will be dismissed.
Ø ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION – BPCL and HP do not take any step to protect the environment. In case of Reliance and IOC, they are taking steps to protect the environment.
Ø FAIR TREATMENT OF EMPLOYEES – All most all the firms treat their employees fairly well.
Ø EDUCATION SUPPORT – BPCL and HP do not provide any educational support to their employees children. But, IOC and Reliance provide some support when compared to the other two.
Ø SOLVE WORK RELATED PROBLEMS - BPCL and IOC solve any work related problems to their employees. But, HP and Reliance failed to do so.
Ø SOLVE PERSONAL PROBLEMS – BPCL and Reliance do not take any steps to solve the problems of their employees. But, IOC and HP try to solve their employee’s problems.
Ø PROVIDE UNIFORM – All the firms provide dress code for their employees.
Ø COMPENSATION PACKAGE – The employees of Reliance are fully satisfied with their compensation. BPCL employees are somewhat satisfied with their package. But in case of HP, and IOC the employees are not satisfied.
Ø SATISFACTION LEVEL – In all most all the four outlets, the employees are partly satisfied.
The involvement of the four companies for the welfare of the lower
level employees on basis of ethical values is rated with respect to many
factors. In which,

2 – Little
3 - Minimum
4 – Partly satisfied
5 – Fully Satisfied

CONCLUSION
From this analysis we can conclude that Indian Oil Corporation is
ranked the highest as the “Ethically Rating Retail Petrol Outlets of
Calicut city”. The Reliance is
ranked as the second highest and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited stands
third while
